It’s official: Liam Hemsworth has filed for divorce from Miley Cyrus

It’s not just a break: Liam Hemsworth has officially filed for divorce from his wife of seven months, Miley Cyrus.

But despite the heartbreaking news, reports say that the divorce is set to be a smooth one for a key reason.

According to a report by PEOPLE, the 29 year-old Aussie actor filed in Los Angeles citing “irreconcilable differences” but seeing as the couple signed a prenup agreement, things are expected to not get too messy. The current date of separation is also shown as TBD.

Liam has also reportedly hired Laura Wasser, a top Hollywood divorce lawyer whose clients have included Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Garner and Kim Kardashian, so he will be in safe hands.

Wasser, whose father is also a prominent divorce attorney, stated in an interview with Net-A-Porter that she’s not sure that humans are meant to mate for life.

“Some people meet, fall in love and stay soulmates forever, God bless them. But that’s not the majority of the world. A million Americans are getting divorced a year. Our marriage rates are down, but our divorce rates have stayed the same.”

The couple announced their split on August 10 but in a recent OPSM ad of Liam’s supposedly filmed a month ago, it seems that he subtly addressed his and Miley’s break up before then.

In the ad, the Hunger Games star appears to be in jovial spirits and is heard saying: “I need some more me time.”

Lyrics featuring the line “Well my baby’s just gone away,” are also featured making it all the more ironic.

Woman’s Day understands that Liam and Miley quietly separated in July, just seven months after getting married, with Liam now laying low in Byron Bay with his older brother Chris.

“Liam has loved Miley deeply for the past 10 years or more, and to finally come to the realisation that she was never going to settle down with him properly was brutal,” our insider exclusively revealed. “As she got more and more impetuous, he knew it was over, as much as it killed him inside.”

“Liam is absolutely the marrying type, it’s just a shame he fell in love with Miley, who definitely wasn’t.”

Meanwhile Miley has been sunning herself in Italy with long-time friend Kaitlynn Carter, who had recently announced her split from reality star, Brody Jenner.

The two were spotted smooching and engaging in a lot of PDA but The Hills star Brandon Thomas Lee, a friend of Brody’s, told E! News’ Daily Pop that things were “getting out of hand.”

“This whole thing is just so, like—I don’t know. I didn’t even want to get involved with it. It just seems so fake to me.”

“They’re just obviously messing with their two ex-husbands. And they’re all friends. So, it’s like, they were all friends. So, why? It just seems so ridiculous to me,” he added.
