Australia’s golden child of swimming, Leisel Jones, has announced that she’s getting married!
The 32-year-old confirmed her engagement to partner Damon Martin on Instagram.
The Olympic champ shared a photo of her hubby-to-be, with the pair looking blissfully happy standing in an alley at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory in New York.
Alongside the stunning image, she penned, “WE’RE ENGAGED.”
“Damo popped the question while we were in The States. I can’t wait to annoy the hell out of you for the rest of our eternal lives. Love you @sunchayser.”
Her friends, fans and loved ones were overjoyed with the news.
Former swimmer-turned-presenter Johanna Griggs gushed, “Huge congrats Leisel! Wonderful news..:)”
While The Morning Show’ Kylie Gillies quipped, “Big love Leisel. Congrats. X.”
Leisel spoke of meeting her man back in 2016.
“It’s hard to meet people in Sydney and it’s hard to find friends and be casual and relaxed,” she confessed to the Daily Mail.
“We’re pretty lucky!”
The sporting great shared that it was Damon’s smarts and fun attitude that caught her eye.
“He’s super fun, very smart,” she praised, before adding, “He’s super duper smart which is really important to me. He’s got a great brain.”
Leisel is an Olympic gold medallist and is considered to be one of the best breaststroke swimmers of all time.
