When you hear the name Kylie images of spinning around in gold hot pants and a bouncy haired girl singing Locomotion while smiling a squeaky clean smile spring to mind, but it appears another young Kylie wants to have a crack at the title reports news.com.
Kylie Jenner, the reality teen star, wants to trademark her first name but there is one glaring issue… Kylie Minogue, 48, has been Kylie since before Jenner was even born.
Now, six months after Jenner’s trademark application, Minogue has filed a notice of opposition with the US Patent and Trademark Office arguing that if Jenner’s application was approved it would dilute her brand and cause confusion.
A Melbourne company representing Minogue, KBD, filed the notice of opposition to the application last Monday.
The documents allegedly outline Jenner as a “secondary reality television personality who appeared on the television series Keeping Up With The Kardashians as a supporting character.”
Minogue couldn’t resist sending out a little tweet with a hint towards her young namesake, and a reference to a song from 2000 saying –
“Hello… My name is KYLIE #lightyears,”
To which her supporters replied –
“The one and only.”
