Keith Urban may have been raised in Australia, but he also calls America home, which is where he and his family live for most of the year.

Monday 31 May is an important date for patriotic Americans because it marks Memorial Day, a federal holiday that honours and mourns military personnel who died during service.

To pay tribute to the men and women who served the US military, Keith posted a rare and intimate photo of his wife, Nicole Kidman, 43 and their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 12 and Faith Margaret, 10.

“Thank you to all the service men and women AND their families.”

Keith photographed the girls huddled in front of a half-mast American flag on a farm.

His message of gratitude read, “Thank you to all the service men and women AND their families for all you’ve done and continue to do for ALL of us!

“Blessings and deep gratitude from our family to you and yours.”

In the comment section of the post, Keith’s American fans thanked him for his generous words.

One fan said, “This is a beautiful sentiment. Bless your family on Memorial Day 🇺🇸,” and another commented, “You make my days great 💋🌟✨.”

It’s not often that the family is pictured together outside of events, and even then, their daughters rarely join them.

Last week, Nicole posted a snap of Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret at the Nashville Predators ice hockey game.

Although Nicole and Keith are not pictured, they were also in attendance to cheer on their favourite team.

“LET’S GO PREDS!! 💛💙 #repost @keithurban @predsnhl,” wrote Nicole.

However, there were more than just athletes to cheer for because Keith had performed the American national anthem at the game.

A fan commented their joy for his contribution to the evening, “You and Keith look so happy dancing and singing at the Preds game. How awesome that your husband sang the national anthem to the game tonight ❤️🇺🇸,” they wrote.

Both Keith and Nicole have dedicated fans in the US and in Aus.

However, for them, it is clear that accolades aside, family is all they need.
