Despite rumours he’s going to go “soul searching” in America, Karl Stefanovic has not quit his job at Today following the breakdown of his 21-year marriage to Cassandra Thorburn.
New Idea this week has published reports the 42-year-old father-of-three is “questioning some of his past behaviour, and knows he needs to change his ways.
“The show has a break over the Christmas holidays, so it’s a good time for him to take the time off and do some soul-searching.”
But a Nine representative has flat out denied the claims saying Karl is there to stay.
“Karl is definitely on Today in 2017, alongside the team who have had such a successful year in 2016,” a rep reportedly told News Corp.

The regular Today team are away each year over summer and in that time Karl often does some stories for 60 Minutes but this year his boss’ would like him just to take some real rest.
“Previously what we’ve done with Karl is that he has often shot 60 Minutes stories over the summer,” Nine news boss Darren Wick said earlier this month.
“We don’t want him doing that this year — just have a break. Obviously what he’s working through with his family situation … he needs to have a break and just rest and spend time with his family. He’s going to do that and come back fresh next year.”
Karl’s 2017 is already looking busy – he will not only be hosting Today but he’ll also be shooting a series on everyday Aussies called This Time Next Year.
Lisa Wilkinson says she’s outraged over some rumours published.
Lisa’s fury over magazine claims…
Last week Today co-host Lisa Wilkinson slammed sections of the media for their handling of Karl’s marriage breakdown, saying some had published malicious “lies” about her colleague.
“There’s a lot of rubbish out there at the moment, a lot of lies,” said Lisa.
Wilkinson, a mother-of-three herself, lashed out about the fact that some articles have been published “without any regard to the fact there’s human beings involved here, and there’s children involved.”
“My growing disgust for the people in charge of those magazines and those websites right now makes me so angry. My anger knows no bounds over that,” Lisa said.
“And I feel very protective towards the people that are involved…and you don’t want to give it oxygen. You don’t dignify any of it.”
Karl and Cassandra’s 21-year marriage ended in September and Karl has reportedly moved out of their family home.
