Jennifer Hawkins’ mother Gail has just embarked on a battle with kidney cancer, it has been revealed.
The model and Myer ambassador found out about the diagnosis last week, and Hawkins’ manager spoke to the Daily Telegraph on Wednesday.
“Jen and her family are shocked at the news but know that Gail is in the best of hands with the cancer team at Newcastle Private Hospital,” Sean Anderson told The Tele.
“The Myer team have been incredibly supportive and have shown great flexibility in rescheduling some of her Spring Summer parade commitments this week so she can be with her family, which is her No. 1 priority.”

While Hawkins is due to walk on the Myer Runway on Thursday to open their 2015 Spring Summer Collection, she will be spending the morning by her mother’s side in Newcastle before Gail goes into surgery to have her kidney removed.
The model will later return to Sydney, with her husband Jake Wall, to fulfil her commitments with Myer in the afternoon and evening.
On Wednesday last week Hawkins posted a photo of her family to Instagram with the caption “family is everything.”
