She recently split from Ben Affleck, but Jennifer Garner has always put her children first – and she’s now admitted that her aim is to set a good example for Violet, 10, Seraphina, seven, and Samuel, four.

Speaking at Save the Children’s 4th Annual Illumination Gala in New York this week, the 44-year-old star told E! News that her goal is to raise her children as people who help others and she feels it’s her responsibility to lead by example.

“I think teaching your kids anything is a lifelong job and certainly values are something – you can’t just say, ‘Here, have values!’ You have to show them that you have values,” Jen said.

“The most important thing is just modelling at this age. When they’re older, they’ll hopefully travel with us and go to places and be boots on the ground, but for right now, it’s just really important to both of us that they see and appreciate the work we do,” she shared.

Jen is known for her philanthropy work, and is particularly passionate about helping mothers and children. She was recently honoured for her work with early childhood education at the Starkey Hearing Foundation’s gala.

Jennifer and her ex Ben successfully co-parent their children.

Jennifer and Ben announced their split in July 2015 after 10 years of marriage.

Speculation began circulating shortly after that Ben had cheated with the family’s nanny, although neither party has admitted to any truth in the rumours.

The former couple are known for their successful co-parenting, and have even continued to live in the same house throughout much of their separation.

We have a feeling the next generation of Afflecks are going to make their mark!

The couple were married for 10 years before announcing their split last year.
