Humphrey B. Bear celebrates his 50th Birthday!

Beloved TV icon Humphrey B. Bear is celebrating a bear-y special birthday – his 50th! And we’re invited to the party!

He’s a bear of not many words, but nevertheless a familiar smile and cuddle from Humphrey will still delight his young fans, who couldn’t be more thrilled to help him blow out his candles.

“Everybody was a fan of Humphrey growing up,” says entertainment tycoon and founder of Imagination Games Shane Yeend, who purchased the rights to Humphrey three years ago.

“Who didn’t watch Humphrey when they were a kid? People grew up with him, just like I did. “It’s kind of funny now to be the owner of one of your childhood icons.”

With his unforgettable hat, tie and waistcoat, the friendly grizzly, who first graced our TV screens back in 1965, brightened up the mornings for generations of Aussie kids, entertaining them with his myriad of songs, dances and storytelling.

Sadly, Nine Network took Humphrey off air from 2009, breaking the hearts of children and adults alike. But he didn’t simply hang up his yellow hat – since then, the cuddly bear has continued to delight the young and young at heart.

“Humphrey has helped raise lots of money for women’s and children’s hospitals over the years, and he’s put a lot of smiles on faces along the way,” reveals Shane.

Humphrey B. Bear turns 50!

“There’s just something about Humphrey. He has this presence about him, and everyone seems to fall in love with him. We can’t go anywhere without being mobbed!”

Shane says as the only bear to win not one but two Logies, there’s no stopping Humphrey. He may grace our screens again!

“It would be nice to see Humphrey back on TV,” Shane says. “We have an executive producer on board who has put together a new TV concept, and we’re also talking about doing a movie.”

Just days out from Humphrey turning the big 5-0 on May 24, Shane and his crew are gearing up to throw the beloved bear another party – and everyone’s invited.

“We’re organising a community celebration and we want you to come and celebrate. There’ll be lots of things to see and do for children and adults,” says Shane.
