A grieving Hugh Jackman shares a touching toast dedicated to his late father, Christopher

This week Hugh Jackman shared the heartbreaking news that his father, Christopher John Jackman, passed away on Father’s Day, aged 84.

Last night, the grieving actor shared a touching video of himself dedicating a martini toast to his late father.

In the moment, Hugh simply said, “quality,” while he looked at his martini and as he raised the cocktail glass, he added, “Here’s to dad,” then he took a sip of the drink.

“Ahh, that is so cold,” Hugh quipped as the video ended.

The actor accompanied the post with a caption thanking his friends and the public for their supportive messages.

“Thank you for all your messages. I’m grateful for the love and prayers. Here’s to Dad,” he wrote.

A slew of fans shared heartfelt comments to wish the actor well and to honour a wonderful life lost.

One fan wrote, “We’re all raising that glass with you Hugh in memory of your dad. 🍸💙,” and another commented, “What an amazing legacy he left in you kids. ❤️.”

The sad news was confirmed late Monday night by Hugh on his personal Instagram.

The 56-year-old shared a photo of his father and wrote an emotional caption to honour his life.

“Thank you for all your messages. I’m grateful for the love and prayers.”

“In the early hours of Father’s Day (AU), my Dad peacefully passed away,” he wrote.

“And whilst there is deep sadness, I am filled with such gratitude and love.

“My Dad was, in a word, extraordinary. He devoted his life to his family, his work and his faith. I pray he is now at peace with God.”

Hugh was especially close to his father, who raised him and his brothers, Ian and Ralph as a single father in Sydney after Hugh’s mother, Grace, decided to leave the family.

The X-Men star also has two sisters called Zoe and Sonya, who went to live with Grace in the United Kingdom after the divorce was finalised.

Hugh was incredibly close with his father, who raised him as a single parent.

During an interview with 60 Minutes, Hugh opened up about how Chris taught him important lessons about loyalty.

“My father is my rock. It’s where I learned everything about loyalty, dependability, being there day in, day out, no matter what,” he said.
