It’s time to say G’Day! How to see Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla in Queensland

Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla will arrive in Queensland on Wednesday, April 4th to open the Commonwealth Games and a brief royal tour.

The heir to the throne and his wife will touch our golden soils running, visiting Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Bundaberg and Cairns.

Where can you see Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla in Australia

If you’re in Brisbane, head to Old Government House at QUT on Wednesday.

The royal couple will be there from 12.50pm, where they’ll be welcomed with a 21 gun salute.

If you miss them, run over to the City Botanic Gardens, where Camilla and Charles will partake in a public walk from 1.15pm.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk addressed the people of Brisbane, saying, “If you work in the city, I can’t think of a better way to spend a lunch break than strolling down to our beautiful City Botanic Gardens and meeting their Royal Highnesses.”

“This royal visit also coincides with the school holidays in Queensland and is a great opportunity for children to take part in what promises to be an unforgettable, historic day for our state.”

This is Prince Charles’ seventh visit to Queensland and the Duchess of Cornwall’s second visit.

The best way to see the the royals and what you CANNOT do when you meet Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla

If you plan to see the British Royals, the government has advised that selfie sticks are banned and the public is discouraged from bringing umbrellas, chairs and picnic blankets.

The main gate on Albert Street is the best point of entry to the gardens.

There will be restricted pedestrian and vehicle access during the day around Alice Street, Parliament House and QUT, including Gardens Point Road, and Lower River Terrace at Kangaroo Point for the gun salute.

You can bet there will be royal cake cutting!

What else will Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla do in Queensland?

Their jammed packed first day will also see the pair drop by Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital, the home for Australia’s first television show Juiced TV made by the patients in the hospital.

That evening, everyone in the country can watch the Prince of Wales represent his mother, The Queen, at the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games.

Thursday will be filled with Commonwealth Games events.

It’s been confirmed Charles will tour the Athletes’ Village and present the medals at the swimming finals at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.

Bundaberg will get the royal treatment where the couple will drop by Bundaberg Rum Distillery.

Locals will be allowed to attend the event, hosted by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

The Big Bundy BBQ will take place between 10am-2pm with official proceedings from 12:30-1pm.

There is speculation that Prince Charles’ visit may coincide with the royal baby arrival!

Her Majesty’s eldest son will head to HMAS Cairns to present the company of HMAS Leeuwin with the Gloucester Cup.

The royal tour will also see Charles and Camilla visit the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree forest and celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The Queensland portion of the trip will end in Cairns where the royals will end with the couple watching Commonwealth Games women’s basketball competition.
