Can you hear that noise?

It’s the children of the Nineties simultaneously hyperventilating after Ginger Spice, aka Geri Halliwell, revealed the Spice Girls are discussing a potential reunion to mark the 20 year anniversary of their debut single, Wannabe, and album Spiceworld, which were released in 1996.

The exciting news came after Geri, who tied the knot with F1 boss Christian Horner earlier in the year, appeared on British breakfast show This Morning on Tuesday.

Speaking about how the hugely popular girl group would mark the milestone next year, Geri explained: “I think it’s really flattering that people are still so supportive of the Spice Girls individually and collectively… it’s so nice.”

However the singer was hesitant to get fans hopes up. “It almost feels you know that it belongs to everyone, like a generation. So I think it’s one of those things that’s been discussed, but until it’s concrete I wouldn’t announce it.”

“I think it would be nice to celebrate it [the anniversary] in some way. I can say that there’s been talks. I think that’s fair and honest,” the mother-of-one added.

Geri Halliwell has admitted the Spice Girls are “in talks” for a 20th anniversary reunion of some sort.

Last month, the rumour mill went into overdrive with reports the band planned to tour in 2016 to celebrate their 20th anniversary, sans Victoria Beckham, who reportedly declined the offer so she can focus on her fashion empire.

It’s been three years since their last performance at the London Olympics Closing Ceremony and before that, the gang got back together in 2007 for a sell-out 47-show world tour.

The group, made up of Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown, Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm and of course Geri, who famously quit in 1998, had nine number one songs and sold over 75-million records. Their unique brand of inclusion and fun inspired an entire generation.

No pressure or anything but come on guys, say you’ll be there for the institution of girl power and give it a whirl!
