Fans are no longer “out on the road, feeling lonely” as Netflix are rebooting Gilmore Girls!
The four-part special has already begun filming however; no official release date has been announced just yet.
Here’s everything we know so far.
Melissa McCarthy wasn’t asked back
Sookie won’t be making a return to Stars Hollow. Fans took to Twitter to ask Melissa if she would be making a cameo appearance, and she relied saying “Thanks for the invite but sadly no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow. Wish them all the best!!”
Richard Gilmore will be sadly absent
Edward Hermann, who played Richard, sadly passed away in 2014. Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore) recently told tvline.com that, “[Richard] is certainly a presence, especially in that first script. And Ed’s probably going to be hovering around the set a bit and watching over us. I really do believe that. Because he really loved the show”.
There will be four episodes, in seasons
Both Lauren Graham (Lorelei) and Kelly have confirmed the scripts are called ‘Summer”, ‘Autumn’, ‘Winter’ and ‘Spring’, meaning the 90-minute episodes will be broken up into the seasons of the year.
Paris is back!
Paris is in the script with Kelly confirming that, “It’s unbelievable what Amy has written for Paris. People are going to have so much fun with it.”
Lauren Graham knows the last words of the series
Series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino accidentally told Lauren the last words of the final script, not realising she hadn’t read that far! “So I asked her, ‘Who says them?’ And she says, ‘Both of you.’ That’s all I can say. It’s not, you know in unison,” Lauren said. Could it be a wedding situation?!
Michel is BACK
Yep, fan favourite Michel is making a return! You can also expect to see Lane, Kurt and of course, Luke. We can’t wait!
There will be new characters
New cast additions will be coming to Stars Hollow including Berta and Alejandro, a Peruvian couple and a magazine editor named Jim. There’s also an “eager 20 something” named Damon, a 30-something named Paul and a blue collar man named Dwayne.
Rory’s love life
Who deserved Rory’s heart? We all have our favourite boyfriend.
But, in the reboot, one thing is for certain: she won’t be married.
“But she’s dating like any young woman with that face would be,” Palladino said.
