“I still don’t have the right words… but I wanted to thank everyone for the incredible messages of support over the past fortnight,” she wrote.

“We all knew how we felt about dad but to have so many people share such beautiful words and memories has blown me away… and I know dad would have been supremely chuffed.”

It is the first time the Sky News Australia presenter has spoken about her grief since her father was laid to rest on January 25. While leading her father’s memorial, Erin called Jim her “hero” who she had idolised her whole life.

The Daily Mail Australia reported that during the service, Erin said: “We all rushed to hospital.”

“I was on the couch, heaving and stoic and the rest (of Senator Molan’s children) were all being stoic.

“After a while, my brother Mick came over, put his arm around me and said: ‘Erin, I just want you to know, none of us think you’re trying to make this about you’.”

In her tribute, Erin affirmed that she would respond to all the heartfelt messages that have been sent to support her as she grieves, but “it just might take [her] a while”.
