Turns out Ed Sheeran is quite the prankster, toying with fans as to whether or not his latest inking – a giant lion on his chest – is in fact, the real deal.

Yesterday the 24-year-old singer shared a snap of his bare, ink-free chest captioned, “Was only joking about the lion,” much to the relief of his adoring fans, who were divided when the singer first revealed his crazy new body art earlier this month.

Disappearing act… The Thinking Out Loud hitmaker has got everybody scratching their heads over his body art after he quipped on Instagram, “Was only joking about the lion.” Then just a few hours later mused, “Only joking, covered it up for a TV show didn’t I.” Help! We can’t keep up.

We thought that was the end of it, but just hours later Ed shared another chest pic, this time with the lion partially covered with body makeup.

“Only joking, covered it up for a TV show didn’t I,” he mused.

Good one, Ed, you got us… again. But really, which one is it: real or not?

Well, if you believe the man behind the controversial tatt, artist Kevin Paul, it’s definitely not a hoax and he says there are plans for more. “All I’m saying is it has taken me six hours so far to put it on his chest,” Kevin explained to Now magazine.

“Ed is nowhere near done. There are going to be even bigger tattoos in the next few months,” he added.

Earlier in the month Ed revealed this intricate body art via Instagram, alongside the caption: “Halfway and ouch.”
