David Beckham’s heartbreaking admission about fatherhood

David Beckham is one of the coolest celebrity dad’s ever, but it turns out his phenomenal sporting legacy is too much for his boys.

The father-of-four would love nothing more than his boys carrying on the football torch and following in his footsteps. But in an interview with ABC News David admitted that his sons find it hard living up to his name.

“One of my boys turned around to me the other day and said, ‘Daddy, you know, I’m not sure I want to play football all the time…’ It broke my heart a little bit,” David said.

He said that his son told him: “Every time that I step onto the field, I know people are saying, ‘This is David Beckham’s son’, and if I’m not as good as you, then it’s not good enough.”

“I said, ‘Okay, stop right there… You play because you want to play,” the former English team captain added.

David and Victoria Beckham have four children, three boys – Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 12, and Cruz, 10, – and of course lil miss cutie, four-year-old Harper Beckham.

David and Victoria just want their kids to be happy.

While we don’t know which of his sons, the star athlete is talking about, his eldest, Brooklyn, recently left the Arsenal youth academy after failing to land a contract.

Quick to brush his shoulders off, Brooklyn has decided to pursue a career in photography.

But the hunky Brit still wants his kids to enjoy the sport, joking that he’s a soccer dad.

“I am a soccer dad, you know I do drop-offs, pick-ups,” the retired striker laughed.

And who knows, David’s soccer lineage may continue with little Harper.

During an interview with Vogue, Victoria revealed that Harper loved playing dress up as much as playing soccer!

“She loves fashion as all little girls do, she loves putting makeup on and playing with my shoes,” she said. “But she loves sports. She’s a little tomboy because obviously she has three brothers,” the Spice Girl revealed.

“She said to me the other day: ‘Mummy I think I want to play football.’ It was a dagger through the heart. I have three boys who want to play football, come on, let one of them want to be in fashion or dance,” Victoria laughed.

David may have retired in 2013, but we think he keeps of kicking parenthood goals!
