There wasn’t a dry eye in the house on Tuesday night as the 47-year-old honoured Rene Angélil, who tragically passed away from cancer in January.

The evening began with a tear-jerking slideshow of Rene’s life – from his childhood, to parenthood and of course his enduring relationship with the Grammy award-winner.

“I understood that my career was in a way his masterpiece, his song, his symphony,” a message from Celine explained on the screen.

It continued: “The idea of leaving it unfinished would have hurt him terribly. I realised that if he ever left us, I would have to continue without him, for him.”

After the photo tribute, the Canadian-born star addressed the crowd.

“Through my life, I only had eyes for my husband, who sat out here night after night,” the mother-of-three said.

Celine began the evening with a photo tribute to her husband. This beautiful family snap, which shows them with their twins Nelson and Eddy and oldest son Rene, was one of the highlights.

“People thought that I was looking at him actually, but I didn’t need to because every time I closed my eyes I felt Rene on stage with me.”

“René is the only man that I have known all my life. He always made me feel that we were always on our first date. Isn’t that amazing?”

“Never talking bluntly and always impressing himself in a soft and gentle way, we were one. And nothing has changed. We will always be one,” Celine said.

During the evening, she performed songs like All By Myself and With One More Look At You-Watch Closely Now through tears.

The couple tied the knot in 1994 and have three children together, Rene-Charles, 15, and five-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy.

Last month, Celine and her family said goodbye to Rene in a series of beautiful ceremonies.

An unbreakable bond: Another moving photo was this shot of Rene and Celine right before they welcomed their twins.

Most poignant of all was his state funeral at the stunning Notre-Dame Basilica, the church where they tied the knot 21 years earlier.

The couples’ oldest son Rene Charles remembered his father in a moving eulogy.

“Fifteen years is not a long time to get to know your father. He had a busy life but we were getting to know each other through golf, poker, smoked meat and other wonderful food,” Rene explained.
