The best and worst of celebrities reacting to the California wildfires

The best and the worst of people come out in times of tragedy.

The catastrophic southern California wildfires have already scorched over 83,000 acres of land, 150 buildings and forcing thousands to evacuate.

Multiple fires broke out around and in Los Angeles this week, and among the thousands of people evacuated are some of your favourite celebrities including Chrissy Teigen, Harrison Ford and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The fires have been especially challenging to tame because of extreme wind behaviour, according to Los Angeles County Fire Chief Daryl Osby.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection declared the wind and fire combination the most dangerous on record.

Chrissy Teigen was among the celebs eventuated. “Never thought I’d get to actually play what I thought was a hypothetical game of what would you grab if there were a fire. so far all I have is Luna, some limited edition Oreos and my spike tv award,” she said on Twitter.

Vanessa Hudgens shared what some are calling a “slightly tone deaf” selfie on Instagram, alongside the comment “Prayers these freaking fires stooooooop”.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga also shared a selfie on Twitter alongside a more thought out caption: “Saying a prayer and sending loving thoughts to those suffering in California due to these horrible fires. No one deserves to lose their home, and during the holidays this is especially traumatic. Praying for you and that you find some peace and the flames settle.”

Gwyneth Platrow was one of the celebrities whose home was under threat. “May god bless and protect our beautiful state and the men and women fighting these fires,” she shared on Instagram.

Ruby Rose reminded us all to think of the animals in this tragedy. “These fires are so scary and I am hoping everyone is ok and praying for the people in those areas and the brave fire fighters and volunteers. My heart goes out to all the poor animals too,” she tweeted.

“This wild fire in LA is terrifying! My house is now being evacuated to get all of my pets out of there safely,” Paris Hilton wrote to her twitter followers. “Thank you to all the firefighters who are risking their lives to save ours. You are true heroes!”

All of the Kardahsian clan were devastated by the fires and each of the sisters asked what the best way to help would be. “I pray everyone in Los Angeles is safe from these fires and THANK YOU to all of the fire fighters working so hard to keep everyone safe,” Kim Kardashian tweeted.
