Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas seem to be off to a fresh start after purchasing an $11.2 million home in New York’s swanky suburb of Bedford Hills.

Since announcing their trial separation 14-months ago the Hollywood power couple looked to have patched up their marital problems and splashed out on a luxury property which they will reportedly move into with their two sons Dylan, 13 and Carys, 11 just in time for their 14th wedding anniversary on November 18.

Zeta-Jones, 45 and Douglas, 70, are believed to have traded in their colonial style 6,000 sq ft Guard Hill Road home for $7.5m in favour the sizable 15,458 sq ft abode featuring eight bedrooms, 18 baths, equestrian facilities, magnificent gardens, a greenhouse, a tennis court and a huge swimming pool.

The Oscar-winners’, whose recent split came at a time when Michael was diagnosed with mouth cancer and Zeta-Jones sought treatment for bipolar disorder, have a large property portfolio including a luxury chateau in the Colorado ski resort of Aspen, a large Manhattan apartment, a home in Catherine’s hometown of Swansea, Wales and one in Bermuda where Douglas’s mother Diana Dill grew up.

Over the years many of New York’s elite have called Bedford home including Bill and Hillary Clinton and Bruce Willis who recently purchased some property in the upmarket area.

The new Zeta Jones-Douglas home in Bedford Hills, purchased for a reported $11.2 million, was described on the property market as “a breathtaking, stately mansion”.
