The NFL extravaganza is usually the most watched television event in the U.S. each year but it’s not just the football that has people tuning in.

The hyped-up halftime show spectacular and the ludicrously expensive commercials mean that the Super Bowl lures in over 100 million viewers and anytime you have more than 200 million eyeballs focused on anything advertisers take notice.

According to Variety, this year big brands dropped a cool $4.5 million to secure a 30 second slot in the TV event – that’s $150,000 per second! Yikes!
