As the cover girl of Elle U.K.’s November issue, the 31-year-old star said she found it difficult to deal with the attention.
“This fame thing? F****d me up for a really long time,” she told the magazine.
“I didn’t know how to do it. I didn’t know how to engage with it. It stressed me out. And people would say, ‘You just have to be yourself,’ and I was like, ‘But I don’t know who that is yet!’

Hathaway, who won an Oscar for her role in Les Misérables, took a break from Hollywood shortly after.
She will appear alongside Matthew McConaughey in the film Interstellar at the end of the year.
