Abbie Chatfield has undoubtedly become one of the Bachelor franchise’s biggest success stories after being catapulted to national fame on Matt Agnew’s season in 2019.
Though the show left her heartbroken after she was unceremoniously dumped in the finale, the 26-year-old overcame a “villain” edit and has gone on to become a bona fide social media sensation, boasting more than 340,000 Instagram followers.
And you’d be hard pressed finding a reality show she hasn’t appeared on. After enjoying a brief stint on Bachelor in Paradise, Abbie went on to win I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and is now the host of Love Island Afterparty.
But Abbie has now confessed that her successful run on television could be over, saying her most recent hosting gig has changed her view of reality TV.

(Image: Instagram)“But it is weird being in this other position now and seeing the other side of it a little bit. I guess it’s different because it is a talk show where we want to have everyone be comfortable and fun and happy,” she told Yahoo.
“The only thing I really get in my ear is you know, ‘next question is’, or a bit of guidance in how to take the conversation but yeah, it is really interesting, and I feel like an actual TV host.
“It makes me not want to do a reality TV show ever again.”
So far Abbie has nailed her debut hosting role on Afterparty, where she chats to the Islanders and conducts exclusive interviews with celebrities.
Last month she told TV WEEK that she will draw on her experience as a reality contestant to help approach the show in a kind, caring way that others might not be able to offer.
“I’m so excited to bring a more empathetic perspective to Afterparty,” Abbie told us.
“I want to bring some understanding to whoever is the ‘villain’, or to when someone does something that I wouldn’t have done. I think we’re going to bring more perspective to it because I do understand how experiences get heightened in these environments.”

Since then, she’s spent a significant amount of her time living alone during Sydney’s lockdown.
While she’s grateful that she’s had plenty of work on her podcast It’s A Lot, there were moments where she considered moving back to her home state in Queensland.

After her appearance on The Bachelor in 2019, Abbie sadly received an onslaught of online bullying and trolling.
“It’s near impossible for me not be like ‘do not troll this person!’ of course I’ll be speaking about trolling, mental health and online interaction of any kind,” she said.
“You know, you can have your gossip but keep it to yourself or the group chat. I think these issues will be brought up a lot and I’m hoping people will listen to me.”
