Michelle Obama confirms details of her “deeply personal” memoir and we can’t wait to read it

“In this book, I talk about my roots and how a little girl from the South Side of Chicago found her voice and developed the strength to use it to empower others.”

Former First Lady Michelle Obama has released details of her first memoir. Obama took to Instagram to share an update about her book, Becoming, which will be released on November 13th 2018.

Described as ‘a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling,’ the book will take readers on a journey from Obama’s childhood in Chicago to becoming First Lady.

“Writing BECOMING has been a deeply personal experience. It has allowed me, for the very first time, the space to honestly reflect on the unexpected trajectory of my life. In this book, I talk about my roots and how a little girl from the South Side of Chicago found her voice and developed the strength to use it to empower others.

I hope my journey inspires readers to find the courage to become whoever they aspire to be. I can’t wait to share my story,” she wrote on Instagram.

The book, published by Penguin Random House, will be available in 24 languages, and we can expect Obama to embark on an international book tour later in the year.

Penguin Random House plan to donate one million copies to First Book and Open eBooks, charities which promote equal access in education through book donations.
