There’s a reason women – especially women over 40 – love Dr LeWinn’s, and it’s not just because it’s the No.1 Australian Cosmeceutical skincare brand in Australian pharmacies.

With reasonable prices, effective ingredients and plenty of research behind every product, the brand is all about making your skin look its best at absolutely every age.

Of course, that means different things for different people because we all have different skin concerns, routines and budgets.

And many women start using skincare that targets the signs of ageing long before they hit their 40s or 50s, choosing to prioritise products that will keep their skin glowing for years to come.

With that in mind, we reached out to Joseph Haklani, Dr LeWinn’s Head of Product Development, to find out which of the brand’s products work best for mature skin, as well as how to make your skin shine at any age.

What are the best Dr LeWinn’s products for mature skin?

According to Joseph, the brand’s best products are all about hydrating, repairing and protecting the skin to help it look its best.

He lists the following as the top three products for mature skin:

• Ultra R4 Collagen Surge Plumping Gel

• Eternal Youth Rich Nourishing Cream

• Line Smoothing Complex S8 Intensive Action Caviar Eye Serum

Of course, a skincare routine often includes more than just three products and many women have different skin types and concerns they’d like to cater to.

With that in mind, Joseph reccommends choosing products from a number of the brand’s best-selling ranges to pad out your routine.

“Our original Private Formula range is formulated with Vitamin A to promote cell renewal and diminish the visible signs of ageing,” he tells Now To Love exclusively..

“Ceramides are present in Dr. LeWinn’s Recoverederm range tailored specifically for sensitive skin sufferers. AHAs are present in Dr. LeWinn’s Reversaderm range, a non-invasive solution to help resurface the skin and target pigmentation and dullness.”

He adds that the Line Smoothing Complex and Ultra R4 ranges are also fan favourites, while any of the products that include Dr LeWinn’s peptides are also surefire winners.

“Juveleven™ is a powerful hexapeptide used in the Dr. LeWinn’s Eternal Youth range that boosts the skin’s natural repair mechanism and helps improve skin youthfulness by 11 years, while Snap-8™ is found in the Line Smoothing Complex range and is proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles,” Joseph says.

What kind of products and ingredients should be included in a mature skincare routine?

“With time our skin’s inherent anti-ageing mechanisms diminish – defences weaken, critical processes slow, and the rate of breakdown of key constituents increases,”Joseph says.

That means clinically proven products with active ingredients that target specific skin concerns are your best bet for healthy-looking, radiant skin regardless of age.

Joseph explains that any woman looking to make her skin glow should follow this basic routine:

  1. Cleanser

  2. Exfoliator

  3. Toner

  4. Serum

  5. Eye serum or eye cream

  6. Moisturiser

  7. Don’t forget to finish with your favourite SPF product for additional protection

As for women with more mature skin looking for a little added radiance, Joseph recommends a focus on ingredients that help delay and reduce the signs of ageing.

“These include peptides, a hero ingredient across the entire Dr. LeWinn’s range due to their proven, highly anti-ageing activity,” he says.

Collagen, Vitamin A, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides and Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) are also winning additions to a mature skincare routine.

Vitamin A promotes cell renewal, Hyaluronic Acid boosts, hydrates, and smooths the skin, Ceramides form a protective layer on the skin and AHAs deeply exfoliate.

“Generally, all ingredients used in well formulated skincare products are safe to use as they must attain a regulatory status,” Joseph tells us.

“However, some caution should be exercised based on individual circumstances, for instance with known allergies or identified skin disorders.

“In such cases it is best to avoid products that are harsh exfoliators or peels, strongly fragranced, contain high levels or alcohol or contain known irritants.”

He adds that consumers should always read skincare labels before purchasing products and prioritise products are dermatologically tested for skin safety.

Joseph reveals that while many women are sold specific anti-ageing products, the key to healthy, nourished mature skin is often just hydration.

“Moisture rich or moisture inducing/protecting products will be of great benefit for mature skin, that is products containing ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolysed Collagen or Ceramides,” he explains.

“Drying products or products with a high level of drying ingredients, i.e. alcohol, should be avoided or used infrequently.”

Creamy cleansers also tend to be more nourishing than gel versions, and physical exfoliators that can be harsh on the skin should be swapped for chemical options.

“Ultimately, the best solution for mature skin is peptides-based products as they are both effective and gentle.”

How can mature women get the most out of Dr LeWinn’s skincare products?

Which products you reach for will depend on your skin concerns.

Joseph says it all comes down to using the right products and staying consistent with your skincare routine.

“The greatest and most long-term impact on the overall quality of skin’s complexion is best experienced when a skincare routine is developed based on your skin type and addresses key steps like cleansing, protecting and hydrating,” he adds.

Most of the brand’s products are designed with mature skin in mind, but Joseph adds that incorporating emollient-rich products from the brand’s Ultra R4 rand or the Eternal Youth range can give mature skin and added boost.

And remember, it’s easier to prevent skin damage and ageing than it is to repair it, so don’t be afraid to start using these products in your 40s, 30s or even in your 20s.
