Nicole Kidman just shared her best highlighter trick

Nicole Kidman might have the best makeup artists on hand to get her ready for red carpet events, but that doesn’t stop the actress from turning to an affordable handbag staple when she wants to look a bit more glowy.

Speaking to Allure, the Neutrogena ambassador says she reaches for the brand’s Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Treatment and uses it as a highlighter.

“Sometimes I’ll rub it on my cheeks and my temples to give that really beautiful shine. I like that shiny look,” Nicole says.

Two of Nicole’s beauty essentials.

No word yet when Nic’s highlighter of choice will be available on our shores, but we’ll be sure to update you with the details once confirmed. The Neutrogena Lip Treatment retails for US$8.99, and we can imagine it would be a comparable price here in Australia.

Nicole goes on to say that her other beauty essential is sunscreen, and that in the morning you will find her smothering herself in SPF 100. “I know it sounds like a lot, but it isn’t.” FYI, the highest rating of SPF sunscreen you can buy in Australia is SPF 50+.

“I’m outside a lot and love exercising outdoors, but I don’t like the sun on my skin because it’s very fair,” Nicole explains, and that since her “parents have also had skin cancer,” she has to “be really, really careful.”

She went on to explain the importance of having a good multi-tasking product in your bag.

“Because I’m traveling all the time, I don’t have a lot of room in my bag. I’ll have things that can double up,” Nicole says. Hence the love of using lip balm as highlighter. This is something Nicole has always been a fan of. Back in 2013 she told the publication: “I’m a mum, so I don’t have a lot of room in my bag, but I always try to have an all-in-one product. I use Benefit Benetint on my lips and cheeks.”

Forget expensive creams and luxury lipsticks, it seems Nicole is all about the cheap and cheerful beauty products.
