Ageing is a thing of beauty and something to be embraced, no matter who tries to tell women over 40 otherwise – just ask Jane Fonda.
The iconic 84-year-old has urged women of all ages to know their value as part of L’Oreal Paris’ new digital series “Lessons of Worth”.
As she tells Now To Love exclusively, “Patriarchy, the paradigm that tells men are in control and women must be subservient, has made women doubt their worth.
“Understand your self-doubts are imposed on you and fight to gain the confidence that is rightfully yours.”
She urges women of all ages to embrace themselves and exude confidence no matter what stage of life they’re in, adding that older women can learn from the younger generations.
“You can teach your elders a lot,” she tells women her junior. “In fact, the future may depend on your doing just that.”
Loving the skin you’re in at any age is one of the best ways to foster your own confidence, and makeup can play a huge role in that.
As women enter 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s – powerful decades indeed – they often find themselves searching for beauty products that will make them look and feel their best.

Now To Love asked Bronwyn Fraser, L’Oreal Paris National Education and Training Manager for CPD what she recommends when it comes to makeup for mature skin.
“Mature skin is often drier and lacks radiance and therefore using a foundation that contains moisturising ingredients that help, such as Hyaluronic Acid, will add moisture and give the skin a beautiful glow,” she tells us.
“Avoid those that have a very matte finish or heavy coverage as these can accentuate fine lines and texture.”
If you want your makeup to look flawless – regardless of age – you need to start with a great skincare regimen and incorporate products that address your specific skin concerns.
You may want more hydrating products, or serums with ingredients that will boost natural radiance – it’s not about changing mature skin, but enhancing the beauty that comes with age.
“Serums add a boost of active ingredients to the skin and can target specific needs,” Bronwyn suggests.
“Eye creams are specially formulated to treat the delicate eye area with ingredients such as Caffeine to reduce help puffiness and other ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid to help hydrate and smooth fine lines.”
Night creams are another great addition to your routine, as they can help stimulate cell renewal, while day creams nourish and protect skin and make a great base for makeup.
Once you’ve established a great skincare routine, it’s all about choosing the right makeup brands and products to enhance mature skin’s natural radiance.
