Angelina Jolie is an Oscar winner, director, film maker and mother, but as the new face of perfume Mon Guerlain she details how this might be her most important role yet.

Speaking to HELLO! Angelina says she decided to work with brand Guerlain because “it was a brand my mother loved, and that I knew from my childhood. It spoke to her, as it does to me, of beauty, history and quality.”

Angelia describes her mother as “a very natural woman,” who “never spoiled herself, never wore make-up, and wore modest jewellery” but had a few special products “for when she wanted to feel like a lady.” One of the special items she had which Angelina remembers “because it seemed so elegant” was a Guerlain powder.

Angelia’s daughter Vivienne Marcheline was named after her mother, Marcheline, who sadly died in 2007 from ovarian and breast cancer. Over the last decade Angelina had has her own fair share of health scares which has changed her thoughts on ageing.

“I am simply happy to be healthy, and above all that the children are healthy. There is nothing else to fear. It makes life clear,” she says.

Angelina’s tattoos are prominently featured in the campaign. “The tattoos being shown was not a plan, but I was pleased they didn’t try to hide them, or turn me into someone I am not.”

In between her work as a Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Angelina has also found the time to direct and produce the upcoming film First They Killed My Father, about the Cambodian genocide which is very close to her and her adopted son Maddox, who was born in Cambodia.

“My sons worked on the film with me, and that made it even more meaningful. Especially as the process of Mad [Maddox] helping in the production was a hands-on education for him in learning more about his birth country.”

Angelina also donated her entire salary for the Mon Guerlain campaign to the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

“The funds will be focused on continuing the work our family has been involved in for years, in Asia and Africa, in Maddox, Shiloh, Zahara and Pax’s countries of birth. We will help more children get an education. We will provide funds for medical equipment and medicine for two clinics that focus on TB and Aids. We will complete the building of a wildlife sanctuary in Namibia for rhinos and elephants.”

Angelina goes on to say her signature makeup look is “under eye concealer to cover dark circles” and her beauty routine is low-maintenance as she has “six kids and no time.”

Guerlain Mon Guerlain is available from March 2017.
