Who knew? Prince George’s little cousin is also a student at Thomas’s Battersea

A familiar face!
Prince George

As it turns out, Prince George isn’t the only royal kicking around the corridors at Thomas’s Battersea: Maud Windsor, the daughter of Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor, has also been enrolled at the prestigious school.

The four-year-old was spotted hand in hand with her father — the only son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent — as they tottered through the school gates on Thursday.

Maud, who just so happens to be 47th in line to the throne, looked adorable in her school uniform featuring a navy cardigan, matching skirt and a red bow holding back her curly hair.

It’s unclear whether she and George will be in the same class, but having been born just a few weeks apart, and, you know, the fact that they share British blue blood, we’re sure they’ll fast become friends.

Maud is the daughter of Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor.

Young George, to much fanfare, also completed his first day of school on Thursday.

The usually-chipper prince — dressed in his brand-new uniform made up of a navy V-neck jumper, a blue shirt, knee-length shorts, shiny black shoes and a backpack — made headlines the world over after he appeared far too anxious to crack a smile for waiting paparazzi.

At an event in Scotland on Thursday, Prince Charles opened up about the exciting, though nerve-wracking new chapter of his grandson’s life.

“Poor old thing,” he said. “He’s been left there to have to get on with it, when the parents go away is always the problem. . . . It’s good for you in the end, I suppose. It’s character building, I suppose!”

The 68-year-old royal added that he didn’t give the little prince any advice ahead of the big day.

“Of course not, he wouldn’t take it from me I don’t think at that age,” Charles reasoned. “But I’ll be interested to hear how he got on. At that age, you don’t worry quite so much about going to school as you do when you get a bit older. It’s that business of meeting new people and wondering, you know.”

Sadly, The Duchess of Cambridge, who announced her third pregnancy this week, was too under the weather with severe morning sickness to attend the milestone.

Confirming she wouldn’t be in attendance, Kensington Palace explained via Twitter: “Prince George will this morning attend his first day of school at Thomas’s Battersea, accompanied by his father The Duke of Cambridge.”

“The Duchess wanted more than anything to be there. It’s a big day for her son. But she has been really very sick this week,” an insider told The Daily Mail.

But Prince William proved the be the perfect support for his first-born, dropping him off in the family’s Range Rover and walking him right to his classroom.

Don’t worry George, we felt the same about our first day of school!

George was given a very warm welcome and soon felt settled.

Speaking just hours after his son had attended his first day, the proud dad revealed that everything “went well” — in fact, George wasn’t the cheekiest child in attendance!

At a reception at Kensington Palace for the England Under-20 football team, the 35-year-old royal told head coach Paul Simpson that it had been a “good day.”

“It went well,” he said. “There was one other parent who had more of an issue with their children so I was quite pleased I wasn’t the one. It was really nice actually.”

He added: “It’s a nice school.”
