Despite being taken far too soon, Robin Williams left us with a plethora of moments, memories and iconic words we’ll never forget.
In celebration of what would have been Robin’s 65th birthday, we’ve taken a look back at the incredible life of the man who brought immeasurable joy to ours.
Whether it was the time he captured our imagination as the Genie in Aladdin, made us belly-laugh in his countless TV appearances or how he broke impossible boundaries in Mrs Doubtfire, Robin William’s was undeniably one of the greats.
He’s given us some of cinema’s most hilarious performances in films such as Good Morning Vietnam and also moved audiences in highly respected dramatic roles like Dead Poets Society and Good Will Hunting.
There’s no question that he was an entertainer through-and-through, but as we learnt in the time after his death in August 2014, he was also a great friend, incredible father and a brilliant human being.
The legendary actor put it best himself when he said, “you’re only given a little spark of madness, you mustn’t lose it.”

“My life is a better place because I knew Robin Williams”, The Crazy Ones co-star and friend Sarah Michelle Gellar mused.
“When I’m awake, I don’t want to go to sleep. I don’t want the hassle of turning the light off, putting my head down and then all the thoughts. I don’t want all those thoughts,” Robin Williams poignantly observed.
Robin Williams blew us away in Patch Adams and he once revealed of being a comedian, “comedy is acting out optimism.”
Robin and his adored daughter Zelda. He was devoted to his kids, once joking that he confuses his daughter with the actual Princess Zelda. Why? Because they’re “both pretty magical.”
“I’m a born entertainer. When I open the fridge door and the light goes on, I burst into song,” the star, pictured with Birdcage co-star Nathan Lane, once reflected.
Robin and his co-star Sally Field from the cult classic Mrs Doubtfire. “He was one of a kind,” the actress admitted upon hearing about his shock departure.
“No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.”
The legendary actor adored his children, pictured here with his son Zak. “I miss him all the time,” Zak said. “Often I see something or if I’m watching a film, I think, ‘Oh, man, he would have appreciated this’ or ‘He would have gotten a laugh out of this.'”
The iconic film Jumanji defined our childhood! His young co-star, Bradley Pierce said, “He was an absolute inspiration to me just like he was to everybody else who knew him and even so many people who didn’t. He was an amazing guy and he’ll definitely be missed.”
“‘Reality…what a concept.” Robin Williams was an actor with infinite talent and a heart bursting with love.
“My battles with addiction definitely shaped how I am now. They really made me deeply appreciate human contact. And the value of friends and family, how precious that is.”
