Accio Beat: Emma Watson delivers a magical beatboxing performance in the name of feminism

What can’t Emma Watson do?

The former Hermione Granger joined forces with American composer Lin-Manuel Miranda to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, who happens to be the driving force behind the #HeForShe campaign, and the composer and star of the Broadway musical, Hamilton, sat down for a chat about gender equality.

And soon the chat turned into some wicked freestyling.

At first Emma seems uncertain… But soon she is a beatboxing pro!

It turns out, everyone’s favourite witch is a bit of a novice at beatboxing but just like her on-screen persona, Emma gave it her best shot.

“Do I cover my mouth?” She asked in the video uploaded on Lin-Manuel’s Facebook page. “Just for my sake,” the Broadway star laughed.

Taking his advice she quipped, “I do this just so I don’t spit at you?”

Giggles aside, the duo created what can only be described as magical.

“Women are like half of the people on Earth/ And yes they should have been equal since birth,” he rapped.

The duo both share a passion for equal rights.

The song, that is completely improvised, reflects Emma’s beloved #HeForShe campaign – especially when the 36-year-old said, “That means all day, every day, equal pay, every way, OK?”

The United Nations initiative hopes to make the world a completely gender equal place.
