Another one bites the dust: Trump fires aide who allegedly made ‘awkward’ comments about Ivanka

Another one bites the dust

Trump's original executive order sparked widespread protests the world over.

Donald Trump may not be on The Apprentice these days but it would seem some old habits die hard…

A senior National Security Council aide has been fired by the White House after reportedly criticising President Donald Trump at an off-the-record event last week.

After only a month in the job, Craig Deare was sent packing by the Trump administration after denouncing the President and his chief strategist Steve Bannon at the Woodrow Wilson Centre think-tank in front of about two dozen scholars, a source told Politico.

After allegedly slamming the Trump government’s policies on Latin America, particularly the wall fiasco with Mexico, Deare reportedly embarrassed the President further with a readout of his phone call with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto.

The call happened amongst rising tensions when President Pena Nieto refused to meet with Trump after the US President demanded Mexico pay for his passion project – the infamous wall.

The content of the call has not been disclosed, but Mr Trump described it as “friendly” at the time… undoubtedly as friendly as the one between him and ‘Trumbull’.

Deare also apparently made several comments about Ivanka Trump’s attractiveness, which the source described as “awkward”. Probably not as awkward as Trump himself saying, “If Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”

Deare allegedly also openly expressed frustration over being excluded from policy discussions involving Mexico. Deare said neither Trump, nor his inner-circle team including chief strategist Steve Bannon and Trump’s son-in-law and adviser, Jared Kushner, have not consulted with the NSC while formulating policy, according to the source at the think-tank.

Deare is the second senior NSC official to leave the White House this week. Colleague retired Gen. Michael Flynn resigned after it surfaced that he discussed sanctions with a Russian diplomat and then went on to mislead Vice President Mike Pence about the nature of his chats.

Although I’m sure in any industry publicly mocking your boss would result in a dressing down, it is a little scary to see how many people Trump has already done away with for disagreeing with him.
