Woman charged with attempted murder after attempted self abortion

A woman has been charged with attempted murder after she tried to induce an abortion with a coathanger.

A woman who tried to abort her pregnancy with a coat hanger has been charged with attempted murder charge in the US, after the baby boy lived.

The Murfreesboro Post reports that Anna Yocca, 31, was arrested earlier this week, after a month-long investigation by a grand jury.

Anna is an Amazon employee, who lives in Tennessee, where abortion is generally not available to women after 12 weeks gestation.

Reports suggest that Anna was 24 weeks pregnant when she tried to end her pregnancy in September.

The Post says the boy ‘faces a lifetime of medical problems … The use of the hanger damaged his eyes, lungs, and heart.’

A police officer, Sergeant Kyle Evans, told The Post: “Those injuries will affect this child for the rest of his life, all caused at the hands of his own mother.”

The baby is now in foster care.

The police report says Anna ‘filled a bathtub in her upstairs bathroom, got in the tub, and used a hanger in an attempt’ to end the pregnancy.

Her boyfriend then drove her to the hospital, where she made “disturbing statements” about wanting to end the pregnancy.

Her defense counsel has not yet given a statement.
