BREAKING: Man rushed to hospital after axe attack at Sydney’s Bondi Beach

The man sustained head injuries after a gang attacked him – armed with studded bats and axe.

A man has been attacked at Bondi Beach by a gang of up to 3 men brandishing weapons including an axe.

The attack happened in broad daylight at the grassy knoll in North Bondi which overlooks the beach.

Onlookers said the gang had studded bats on them.

A witness told the Wentworth Courier: “I saw the guy who got hit kind of fall over and stumble a bit. The guy with a bat, or a metal rod or something, hit him over the head.

“Most people were grabbing their towels and used that to stop the bleeding a bit. His whole face was covered in blood and his hair as well. A few guys seemed to be chasing after them to try and catch them before the police came.”

NSW Ambulance Service confirmed a man aged in his 30s had sustained head injuries. He was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.

The incident had been described as an “axe fight” by a witness.

Police are investigating.
