The Daily Telegraph reports Racing Victoria stewards are investigating jockey Michelle Payne over a positive drug test and an inquiry is already underway.
The celebrated jockey allegedly tested positive to a banned substance, an appetite suppressant called Phentermine, after a urine sample taken at the Swan Hill Cup meeting on June 11.
RV stewards received the report two days later and told Payne and told her she had been stood down from riding in races and trackwork.
Michelle and her brother Stevie, who acted as strapper for the historic win.
Michelle made history for women when she became the first female rider to win the Melbourne Cup, our country’s most prestigious race.
“I just couldn’t believe we’d won the Melbourne Cup, it’s a dream come true,” the 30-year-old told ABC after her win.
As well as this incredible achievement, she also made headline for breaking down the barriers surrounding disability.
Her brother Stevie has Down syndrome. He lives with Michelle, works for her and for a neighbouring trainer, and he is considered of the most reliable strappers in the business.
Stevie assisted Michelle as her strapper for her historic win.
Most recently, Payne appeared at Royal Ascot.
She has reportedly been requested by RV stewards to appear at an inquiry tomorrow.
