UPDATE: The woman who was found lost and alone, suffering from ovarian cancer and severe amnesia, has spoken for the first time, in an effort to reunite her with her family.

The woman, who is known as “Sam”, spoke to a reporter in the US in the hopes that her family will recognise her and bring her home.

We wish her all the best.

Firefighters in South California have found a woman in her early 50s, who appears not to know who she is or where she’s come from.

On February 1, 2015, a woman who has been called “Sam” was found by emergency services in the US. After being taken to a local hospital, this unidentified woman was diagnosed amnesia caused by a “volleyball sized” tumour on her ovary, and spent a number of days in an intensive care unit after undergoing an emergency oophorectomy, and hysterectomy.

Although “Sam” does not have any recollections of her own identity or that of her family’s, she does have very “clear memories” of Cottesloe Beach in Perth and the Icebergs in New South Wales, as well this, she speaks with an Australian accent that some have linked with Perth.

After talking to psychologists and therapists, “Sam” has now taken to the Internet to see if anyone will recognise her.

“You see since I’ve been in the hospital I have been here alone,” she writes, “I was in dire condition when I arrived and was put in intensive care immediately. The amnesia I have is called retro amnesia and doctors have seen this before with the kind of antibodies that were found on the volleyball sized tumor that was on my ovary. The doctors said it could have been growing for 5 years causing me to be forgetful of things.”

She then lists her memories, as they have been coming back.

“All of my initial dreams had to do with a lap pool swimming in a salt water pool in Perth, then Icebergs in New South Wales and in Cairns in Queensland and Byron Bay,” wrote “Sam” in a ‘biography’, “I also had many dreams of Hawaii living in a contemporary home there. Both Australia and Hawaii are extremely familiar to me. I remember having breakky almost every morning at the organic restaurant across from the ocean in Cottelsoe Beach outside Perth, and dining for months at the restaurants in Byron Bay.”

“The American authorities have been searching here, the British and Australian authorities have been looking there,” she said, “The only thing I know for certain is I have a faith in God. I woke up initially feeling as if someone had their arms wrapped around me, I felt him. I felt I was not alone.”

Sam’s Description:

  • White female

  • Approximately 50 years old

  • 5’7” and 200 lbs

  • Blonde highlighted hair

  • Brown eyes

  • Chipped front tooth

  • Right-handed

  • Near-sighted

  • Small pox scar on right arm

“The last thing I was wearing was a navy blue T-shirt with Annapolis Harbor with anchors on it, navy blue shorts and Sperry boat shoes, and Burberry tie made in England.”

If you have any information on “Sam”, please contact the relevant authorities.
