Child of mother who died after declining cancer treatment to give birth has also died

Carrie DeKlyen is now "now rocking her baby girl" in heaven, say the family in Facebook post.

Just days after the funeral for Michigan mother of six , Carrie DeKlyen, her newborn daughter Life Lynn has also died.

While this would be a heartwrenching story for any family, this one is particularly saddening, as Carrie passed away after a refusing cancer treatment in order to give birth to Life Lynn. The treatment was to be in aid of a vicious battle with brain cancer, which Carrie ultimately lost.

The child lived for just 14 days after being born extremely premature, via cesarean section while her mother was in a coma.

Carrie, at the time a stay-at-home mother of five, was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, in April after complaining of severe headaches.

“One day she woke up vomiting and I knew something was wrong,” her husband Nick DeKlyen previously told local media.

After an unsuccessful attempt to remove surgery, the couple found out Carrie was 8-weeks pregnant. She chose to forgo further treatment as it would mean an end to the pregnancy.

“We’re pro-life,” Dean has said. “Under no circumstance do we believe you should take a child’s life. She sacrificed her life for the child.”

In a post on the couple’s Facebook page, Dean shared the sad news that their daughter, Life Lynn had also passed away.

It is with great sadness and a absolutely broken heart that I tell you Life Lynn passed away last night. Carrie is now rocking her baby girl.

I have no explanation of why this happened, but I do know Jesus loves us and someday we will know why. The grief we feel is almost unbearable, please be praying for our family.

Psalms 73:26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever

Our thoughts are with the Dean and his five reaming children, during this terrible time.
