Sydney-siders have a reputation for living fast, glamorous lives but would it surprise you to learn that on average, Sydney women have the lowest number of sexual partners in the country?

The women of NSW are tied with the ACT at the bottom of the sexual league table, with seven intimate partners putting them below the national average of eight.

Victorian women are the most promiscuous, with an average of 10 lovers, followed closely by Queensland and WA where the women sleep with nine people over their lifetime.

One in five Australian women has had a same-sex encounter, the biggest cheats live in the nation’s capital and there’s no reason entering your sixties means your sexual peak is behind you.

These are just some of the findings of The Australian Women’s Weekly annual sex survey, published in the June edition of the magazine which is on sale now.

The survey of 1340 woman across the country made some surprising findings, including that almost one fifth (19 per cent) have had sex with someone we met online.

One in five women living in the ACT confessed to cheating on their spouse or partner, compared to just 13 per cent over the border in NSW. Tasmanians were the most faithful, with only six per cent of respondents saying they had cheated.

One respondent, Jennifer Blue, revealed that at age 61 she is having the best sex of her life.

The great-grandmother says she thinks tiredness is a major barrier to sex and that for women of her generation, it was never really spoke about.

“Once I hit 40 I became really comfortable with sex,” Jennifer told The Australian Women’s Weekly.

The full results of the nation-wide study are in this month’s edition of The Australian Women’s Weekly, on sale now.
