There are many decent jobs out there but none would even come close to the one advertised by The Just Cats Veterinary Clinic in Dublin, Ireland. They’re looking for a suitable candidate who will spend their days cuddling cats and kittens.
Yes really. No more putting up with office politics, having people steal your lunch from the work fridge and wondering when you’ll make your escape to something better – because what could be better than listening to the gentle purr of a kitty and actually getting paid for it?!
Naturally the unicorn of job postings has caused quite a stir on social media, with countless obsessive cat lovers posting pictures of themselves cuddling kitties, desperate to get the attention of the hirers. However the cats-only vet has outlined exactly what’s required to be successful in the role and it’s a bit more technical than just dishing out a few pats.
The job ad criteria states the ideal candidate must have:
1. “Gentle hands capable of petting and stroking cats for long periods of time.”
2. “Need to be softly spoke and capable of cat whispering to calm the nerves of some of our in patients.”
3. “An ability to understand different types of purring is a distinct added advantage”.
Sadly, a veterinary qualification is also essential for this role. Not to mention the fact it’s based in a Ireland so the commute would be a killer from here. But otherwise, it sounds almost too good to be true. Here’s hoping more like this pop up closer to home.
