Woman gives birth to 12 lbs baby naturally

Super Mum.

A family from Lancashire in the UK are celebrating the birth of a healthy baby boy this week and they have double the reason to celebrate – this baby weighed 12 lbs, twice the weight of a ‘normal’ newborn and…. he was born naturally.

You read that correctly.

New mum Paula Brown endured a six hour labour at the Blackburn Birthing Centre and was shocked to find her son weighed in at a massive 5.5 kilos. The family very quickly had to rethink the newborn sized clothes they had purchased for ‘little’ Theo John James Brown.

The new father, Gareth Brown, told The Sun:

“We were all making guesses at what weight the baby would come in, but nobody was expecting that.

“It was strange, most of the babies there were tiny and Theo was huge.”

“‘They said it was the biggest baby out of the last 4,500. Everybody is doing fine now, Theo is home and well. He’s absolutely brilliant.”

Super Mum, Paula said the birth was “not pleasant and it was hard work and tiring”.

Ah, yeah – we don’t doubt that for one second.

But of course she confirms that Theo was worth every second of it.

In June, a 6.5 kg baby was born in the US.

Baby Colin was born in South Carolina and the birth managed to set a new record for the hospital – with Colin weighing in at 14.5lb (roughly 6.5kgs). He’s the biggest baby ever born at Lexington Medical Center.

Somebody better be getting all these amazing new Mums a drink.
