Meghan Markle’s red wine hot chocolate recipe is a gift from above

We know the mercury might be pushing 40 degrees right now but trust us, this hot drink is worth pushing through the sweats to enjoy. Meghan Markle’s take on a red wine hot chocolate combines, as she describes on her website: “two of every lady’s classic loves, wine and chocolate.”

Megan has previously expressed (on numerous occasions) her love for a vino, telling The New Potato: “God, do I love wine; a beautiful full red or a crisp white,” so it only makes sense she’s create her own version of this indulgent hot drink.

Ingredients

8 cups milk

500g dark chcoclate

1 bottle red wine

2 cinnamon sticks

4 cloves

1/2 teaspoon all spice

1/2 teaspoon smokey chilli powder

marshmallows to decorate

Method

1. In a saucepan, bring the milk to a simmer. Add chocolate pieces, stirring occasionally.

2. In a separate saucepan, add wine, cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice, and chilli powder. Simmer for at least 10 minutes.

3. Combine the hot chocolate and mulled wine. Add marshmallows, and enjoy.
