Hog’s Breath Cafe has won coveted PETA vegan award

Hog's Breath Cafe's new menu item has vegans drooling.

One of Australia’s most famous steakhouses has won PETA’s coveted Proggy Award for its brand new menu addition.

Hog’s Breath Cafe and vegan

aren’t two words you hear in the same sentence, until now.

The steakhouse has won endorsement from animal liberation group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), and it’s all thanks to their brand new Crispy Vegan Schnitzel Burger.

PETA’s Proggy Awards (“Proggy” is for “progress”) recognises animal-friendly achievements in commerce and culture. The fact that such well-known steakhouse has taken out the top spot speaks volumes about the direction our diets are headed in the future.

PETA agree times and attitudes are changing.

“A few years ago, some people might have thought that pigs would fly before you could order vegan food at Hog’s Breath Cafe,” says PETA Associate Director of Campaigns Ashley Fruno. “But times are changing, and even the most traditionally meaty places are changing with them.”

Hog’s Breath Cafe’s new vegan vegetarian options include:

  • Avocado and Vegan Schnitzel Wrap

  • Crispy Vegan Schnitzel Burger

  • Beetroot and Feta dip

  • Crumbed Mushroom and Avocado Salad
