This is the age you should stop shopping at Zara… apparently

Better start broadening your shopping horizons now.
The age you should stop shopping at Zara

Another day, another study no-one asked for, because evidently it’s not enough we’ve had a study tell us the age we need to stop wearing jeans, or alerted us to which star sign is the most unfaithful. Now, this latest research has determined the age limit for shopping at Spanish clothing giant, Zara.

However, before you get yourself in a huff and swear to buy clothes from there no matter what your age (good for you!), the survey – conducted by consumer analysis agency Insight Rooms – wasn’t done to discriminate potential shoppers based on their age. Instead it looked at the typical demographic of a Zara shopper, then analysed when our interest in its products will naturally wane.

After all, we all have our favourite shops that seem to change as our salaries, tastes and personal lives do. So while you might enjoy spending hours scouring the racks now, you might feel very differently in a few years when you have a crying toddler in tow.

According to the research, our interest in Zara is most enthusiastic at ages 23 to 27, before “basically collapsing beyond,” Ed Dilworth, founder and CEO of Insight Rooms tells Who What Wear. In fact, by age 25 your enthusiasm is beginning to dampen and by age 33 you’d happily skip entering the store altogether.

So there you have it. If you already stay away from the hoards of customers at Zara then you won’t find this news particularly distressing at all but if you’re a Zara devotee like Duchess Catherine then you might want to start broadening your shopping horizons before you blow out the candles on your 33rd birthday.
