After 64-years of actual wedded bliss, 2017 saw the passing of Jeanie Gum’s husband, and this Christmas will be her first without him.

Jeanie Gum has four beautiful granddaughters, who she reminds every day the importance of saying ‘I love you’, because you never know when it could be the last time.

One of her granddaughter’s, Sammie Beaty, spoke to GoodHousekeeping.com about making sure Jeanie got the perfect gift this year.

“I wanted to have something special that we could put in my papaw’s chair, where he always would sit for our family Christmas,” Sammie said.

“I thought it was a great idea to turn his sweater that he always wore on Christmas Eve into a pillow.”

On the sweater is a note which reads: “This is a shirt I used to wear, and whenever you hold it, know I am there. Love, Bill.”

Watching Jeanie receive the present, you can see this loving family achieved their goal.

Jeanie picks up the pillow and holds it close, as one of her family members comes over to hug her.

“It’s from us, it’s from all your girls,” she says to Jeanie who is now in tears.

Stories like this are the perfect reminder of what Christmas is about: spreading joy and love to those who matter most.

And we’re guessing the Christmas spirit is thriving, given this video has been viewed almost 2 million times.
