The Voice Australia’s Claire battles nerves every time she performs

Claire Howell is determined to prove her former The Voice coach Jessie J wrong.

But she will have to overcome her nerves if she’s to win the competition.

“Every time I’m about to start performing, I get an adrenalin rush and get so jittery,” Claire, 19, tells TV WEEK.

“It’s an anxiety thing. I used to never do gigs because I’d get so freaked out.”

Claire was on The Voice in 2016 as a member of Team Jessie J, but lost out in the battle rounds.

She admits it’s not only nerves she’s had to deal with since landing a spot on the show.

“The people online are savage,” she says. “But you have to look past that. People are going to say whatever they think.”

Despite her setbacks, Claire is on a mission to make it right to the very end this season.

“It would be crazy to win the show,” she says. “If I were to win, I’d quit my job and dedicate my time to writing an album and recording.”

Claire still finds it hard getting up on stage.

As for her coach, Delta Goodrem, Claire says she and the star are great mates.

“Delta is such a supportive person,” Claire explains. “She’s there for you the whole time.

“She’s somehow so relatable. We connected the moment we met.”
