There’s more to Apollo than being really, really, ridiculously good looking.

He may appear to be picture perfect but behind the chiselled abs and Greek god aesthetics, The Bachelorette Australia’s Apollo is a shy guy and hasn’t had much luck with the ladies in the past. (Yep, we can’t believe it either!).

“I have been single for just over a year,” the hunky magician tells TV WEEK.

“I don’t go out much and I’m not the type to approach girls either.”

Apollo admits he gets nervous around women.

In fact, Apollo says he gets “super nervous” around the opposite sex.

“I don’t get nervous on stage though. It’s just a girl thing, it’s crazy,” he reveals.

“I can hop on stage in a ridiculous outfit in front of 3,000 people and I just feel right at home. But if there’s a girl I find attractive, talking to her or asking her out, I just freeze up.”

Apollo’s confession certainly comes as a surprise. Afterall, the handsome 24-year-old did impress The Bachelorette Sophie Monk during their first encounter.

“I don’t think love has an age,” Apollo says of the duos 13-year age gap.

“I think it’s all about the connection. You can both click on the things you connect with and I just don’t think age really matters when it comes to love.”

As for the fellow lads vying for Sophie’s heart, Apollo admits he has some serious competition.

“Look, there are some good-looking roosters on the show,” he laughs.

“I’m not going to lie, when I first met the guys I was like ‘Oh my gosh!’ and there’s so much depth to them as well. That’s probably the most intimidating part. You’re not just going up against good-looking guys but these guys who have amazing personalities too.”

So is there one contestant in particular Apollo feels threatened by?

“When I met Luke, I thought he was a bit of a frontrunner,” Apollo admits.

“He’s just got so much going for him and he is a really, really nice guy,” he says.
