The ladies were left reeling at the end of episode eight as three contestants were sent packing in a single cocktail party.

Now it’s down to the top 10 – but who is closer to capturing Matty’s heart in The Bachelor Australia?

The episode begins with Osher entering the mansion to screams of “Osherrrr” from all of the girls, and a random “Oshdog” from Laura. Alright then.

Osher produces a date card, which he leaves for Elora to read out.

Elora tells them that a group date is up for grabs and the lucky ladies are Jen, Simone, Elise & Cobie.

Michelle is devastated that she has been overlooked once again. Things are not looking good for police officer Michelle.

Michelle is not happy Jan.

The four chosen ladies meet Matty at a beautiful house, where it is revealed that each one of their parents will be joining them for the date.

The girls are over the moon that they will soon be seeing their family and many tears are shed.

Excited, much?

The reunion is even too much for Matty who brushes a few non-existent tears away from his face while the ladies embrace their parents.

Are those actually tears, Matty?

Then the challenge is issued: each daughter & parent team must cook a family recipe together and once everyone has cooked, one lucky lady will be chosen to have one-on-one time with Matty.

Elise and her dad Phil are the first team up to cook and they have chosen a tuna steak salad as their family recipe.

Elise and Phil’s relationship is a close one and Elise tells her dad how confused she is over her relationship with Matty.

She also reveals that she hasn’t had a single date with Matty and Phil is not impressed, so he vows to ask Matty about it!

Phil is unimpressed.

The Bachelor himself joins Elise and Phil in the kitchen, where he asks Phil if they can have a chat alone.

Matty does the good thing and heaps praise on Phil for what a lovely person his daughter is but Phil doesn’t muck around.

He corners Matty (metaphorically) and tells him that Elise isn’t sure where she stands and he doesn’t want to see her wasting her time.

Matty completely understands his point of view and promises to correct the issue.

Yes, Phil, I mean sir!

Next up are Simone and her mum Lorraine.

The mother and daughter make a salad, which they have both never made before.

Cobie and her lookalike dad Brad make something similar. It’s salad all round!

Neither of these ladies gets much airtime whilst cooking so it must have been pretty uninteresting.

Didn’t ANY of these girls grow up with The Simpsons and know the cardinal rule of “You don’t make friends with salad?”. Geeez.

Jen and her mum Leanne are the last up to cook and they have chosen a deconstructed banoffee pie, because desserts are Jen’s strong point apparently.

“Desserts are my speciality, I’m a little dessert myself, so I’m all about showing Matty my sweet side,” Jen says with her signature smirk.

Subtle, Jen. Subtle.

After much eating and wine-drinking, it is time for Matty to make his decision and he decides to pick Elise for some one-on-one time.

Of course Jen is annoyed, claiming that her dessert triumphed Elise’s salad. You do win friends with salad it seems.

Elise is ecstatic as her and Matty share some alone time and down some more champagne.

Matty explains to her that he lost track of her at the beginning of the series because there was so many people to get to know.

Elise accepts this answer and is over the moon when he offers her a rose.

In Elise’s head: “YASSSSS”.

Things are a little awkward when Matty goes in for a kiss on the cheek, which Elise accepts, but when he pulls her into a hug, it looks like Elise motions for a kiss on the lips.

I mean, he did eat a lot of salad, the guy could just have really bad onion breath.

Either way she got a rose and leaves with a huge smile on her face.

Elise literally cannot stop smiling.

The next day, Matty arrives at the mansion riding a camel. Yep, a dressed up camel.

And it’s time for a single date and Tara is the lucky recipient.

Cue Jen getting pissed off once again.

Totally casual.

Matty invites Tara to climb aboard the camel and Tara, trying to mount the animal as lady-like as possible, does not enjoy the initial movement of the camel.

We don’t blame her, she looks uncomfortable as hell.

Tara is not enjoying this at all.

The camel takes the pair to a Moroccan themed date where Matty and Tara sip different types of Moroccan tea.

Tara’s enthusiastic remarks of “that’s noice” reminds us of Kath & Kim.

After the tea has been drunk, a belly dancer holding a snake enters the picnic and dances for Matty and Tara.

“That’s noice”.

It’s Matty and Tara’s turn next and they both don coin skirts and do their best to follow the dance instructions.

They both give it a go and Matty has Tara in stitches as he sways his hips. It’s a sight to see, that’s for sure.

What are you doing there, Matt?

As always, Matty brings Tara back to the lounge and they begin to discuss their feelings and Matty reveals how much he likes Tara, which she reciprocates.

The date ends in a kiss and Tara accepts Matty’s rose.

All’s well that ends well.

It’s time for another cocktail party and Jen makes sure she gets some one-on-one time with Matty.

She lures him in with baked goods and slips in how she feels that she has been friend-zoned.

Matty seems genuinely surprised at Jen’s comment. Really, mate?

You haven’t spent much time alone with her. Anyway, Jen campaigns for a single date and Matty placates her with compliments. Win win, right?

Matty is more interested in the chocolate mousse.

And the moment we’ve waited for all episode – the rose ceremony! Jen looks like the cat that got the cream as Matty begins handing out roses.

She is extremely confident that she will receive one. And she’s right, but her smile doesn’t last long when Michelle is in the last two ladies to be picked, alongside Elora.

Elora is given the last rose and poor Michelle is left standing alone.

Jen is full on bawling at this point and it’s not a pretty sight.

So. Many. Tears.

The ladies gather around to say goodbye to Michelle and Matty wishes her the best.

Another one bites the dust. Only nine ladies remain!

See you ’round, Michelle!
