My Kitchen Rules: Della admits the competition was too much to bear

I battled with anxiety.

There’s no doubt being a contestant on My Kitchen Rules is stressful. But for construction lawyer Della (above, left), the pressure really took its toll.

“I had a lot of anxiety and people are going to see a different Della from what they know,” the 30-year-old from Brisbane says. “Looking back, I wish I would’ve taken a break and said to myself that this isn’t the end of the world.”

Della admits she felt overwhelmed, especially when she and cousin Tully had to present their instant restaurant round.

“I don’t think I’ve ever doubted myself more,” she explains. “I felt really alone and all I could think about was how everyone would feel watching us instead of focusing on the task at hand. I just had a lot of self-doubt and it really kind of crept up.”

But the same can’t be said for Tully.

The registered nurse barely felt any pressure.

“I don’t think anything really stressed me out too much,” the 30-year-old adds. “In my line of work, I see people who have some really big challenges in life every day, and that puts things into perspective for you.”
