It will be a big night for the talented singer and star of The Secret Daughter, because Jessica is in the running for Best Actress – her first ever Logie nomination.
The success of the show saw Jess release her album The Secret Daughter, which debuted at #1 on the ARIA Album chart, the first time an indigenous artist has achieved this incredible feat.
However, this won’t be Jessica’s first time on the Logies stage – she performed “Been Waiting” in 2009 – but the talented singer and actress has big plans for this year’s performance.
“The first time I performed at the Logies was with dancers,” Jessica, 27, tells TV WEEK ahead of her performance. “This time it’s with my full touring band, so we are going to have that Logies audience up and shaking a leg!”
Regardless of whether she wins, just being at the Logies is a proud achievement for Jessica.
“Mum, me and the girls always watched the Logies back in Darwin,” Jess says. “It's an amazing honour to be nominated in the company of such wonderful talents.”
This year, Jess has been busy touring the country with her All The Hits Live show, and will soon be putting on her acting hat again for season two of The Secret Daughter.
The 59th TV WEEK Logie Awards will take place at Crown Entertainment Complex’s Palladium Room in Melbourne. You can catch Jess performing during the telecast, which gets underway on the Nine Network on Sunday, April 23, from 7pm.
