Last night’s Home And Away finale was explosive. A whole lot happened but the biggest and most emotional scene was Kat Chapman (Pia Miller) and her unborn child tragically dying after a car accident.

But now that the show is over for the year (we have to wait till January 29 ’till the new season), Home And Away have teased what’s to come in the New Year – and it looks like trouble.

Yep, a new set of River Boys are coming.

In the teaser (which you can watch above), there’s a brief flash of shirtless men walking along the beach with the words ‘blood and sand’ tattooed on one of the guy’s back, much like Darryl ‘Brax’ Braxton (Stephen Peacocke).

Who’s the new bad boy?

“Who are they?” Tori (Penny McNamee) asks.

Alf Stewart (Ray Meagher) replies, “The River Boys.”

“What are they doing here?” Tori adds.

“Nothing good,” Alf says.

You never see the tattooed guy’s face so we’re left to speculate who it is. Could Brax really come back? Stephen has previously spoken about his love for playing the character.

“I loved the work and the people,” he told TV WEEK recently. “I genuinely liked it. It was such a great job.”

Casey, Brax and Heath Braxton

Casey Braxton (Lincoln Younes) died on the show which means he couldn’t make a return, so maybe this is a whole new generation of River Boys coming to stir up trouble?

That’s not the only big storyline coming next year. The teaser also showed Ash (George Mason) on a dangerous quest for revenge on Robbo (Jake Ryan), who he blames for Kat and his unborn child’s death.

Ash is out for revenge.

“He took everything that matters to me. He can’t hide forever,” Ash says in the clip as he chases Robbo across cliffs in what appears to be a dramatic showdown.

Alf also appears to be in peril as he’s covered in dirt and soot in a dark place. Next year will be the 30th anniversary of the show so we can already tell it’s going to be a big year.

What’s happened to Alf?

Bring on January 29!
