Harry Potter’s childhood home in Godric’s Hollow is up for sale.

Sure, it’s the home where he spent two happy years with his parents – however, it’s also the same place where James and Lily Potter were murdered trying to protect their son Harry from He Who Must Not Be Named…

So obviously, we’ve got some mixed emotions here.

The property, called De Vere House, is currently on the market.

If you’re after a piece of the Wizarding World to call your own, you may want to put in a call to Gringotts as the asking price is a cool £995,000 (that’s roughly $1,640,678).

No wonder the price is steep – this is the Potter’s home after all, only the most famous Wizarding family of all time. Godric’s Hollow was also the home of Dumbledore, so that’s worth at least another 100 points for Gryffindor.

According to the listing, “De Vere House is an outstanding Grade I listed property steeped in history and, more recently, made famous for its appearance in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows.

“The front door of De Vere House is one of its most notable features and appears in numerous guide books and Treasures of Britain. Internal Medieval and Tudor features include a massive timber frame, fireplaces, wall paintings and a rare stone spiral staircase with carved brick hardrail.”

When you consider the history and significance of the home, it’s a bargain really.

Also, as far as Harry’s former abode’s go, we’d take this house over the cupboard under the stairs or Dudley’s old bedroom any day…
