Kim & Sharon (Kath & Kim):
Even though Kim continually refers to Sharon as her “second best friend” (her first best friend is Tina, but we never actually see her), the pair spend all their time together. Kim isn’t a great friend, but Sharon always sticks by her (and steals her dippity bix!).
Kelly & Brenda (90210):
Kelly (Jennie Garth) and Brenda (Shannen Doherty) didn’t have the smoothest friendship (the summer fling that Kelly had with Brenda’s then boyfriend Dylan (Luke Perry) didn’t help things) but the girls managed to work through it. They remained friends for years despite their past disagreements and even came together again in the 90210 reboot in 2008 when Kelly got Brenda a job.
Chandler (Matthew Perry), Monica (Courtney Cox), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), Joey (Matt Le Blanc), Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) & Ross (David Schwimmer) (Friends):
This is the gang we always wish we were apart of and still enjoy their adventures over a decade after the show finished. Coffee at Central Perk, anyone?
Ryan & Seth (The O.C.):
Literally the embodiment of a “bromance”, Ryan (Ben McKenzie) and Seth (Adam Brody) are a great example of friendship. Despite the fact that they were total opposites in every sense, they always had each other’s back and their inside jokes were next level.
Lorelai & Rory (Gilmore Girls):
We know that these two women are actually mother and daughter AND Rory’s (Alexis Bledel) best friend was Lane (Keiko Agena), but we’re still counting this one in the BFF category. Both Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory referred to each other as their best friends at multiple points during the show.
The fact that their age difference was significantly smaller than the average mother and daughter (16 years to be exact) factored into this duo’s closeness.
Edina & Patsy (Absolutely Fabulous):
Self-destructive besties Edina (Jennifer Saunders) and Patsy (Joanna Lumley) aren’t great examples on how to live a healthy life, but they always had a great time together, so hey, who are we to judge?
Robin (Cobie Smulders), Ted (Josh Radnor), Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), Lily (Alyson Hannigan) and Marshall (Jason Segel) (How I Met Your Mother):
This group of friends got up to some real mischief together whilst Ted looked for his future wife. The HIMYM gang run a close second to the Friends crew on who we wish we could be real-life friends with!
Grace & Frankie:
The relationship between Grace (Jane Fonda) and Frankie (Lily Tomlin) is a difficult one. Originally the women were mere acquaintances through their husbands (who were business partners) but their lives are thrown into turmoil when their husbands Robert (Martin Sheen) and Sol (Sam Waterston) reveal that they are in love and have secretly been together for 20 years, the women are thrown together and a friendship forms.
Serena & Blair (Gossip Girl):
Super stylish besties Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) have the wardrobes we wish we had! And their friendship wasn’t too bad either.
Xiomara & Jane (Jane The Virgin):
Another mother-daughter relationship here, but much like Lorelai and Rory, Xiomara (Andrea Navedo) and her daughter Jane (Gina Rodriguez) only have a 16 year age difference and are each other’s best friend.
Meredith & Cristina (Grey’s Anatomy):
Best friends Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) are the real love story on medical drama series Grey’s Anatomy. Cristina even calls Meredith her “person” and we love that the pair use dancing as a form of therapy when things aren’t going so well.
Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) (Sex And The City):
The show that revolutionized the way women’s friendships were displayed on-screen, the four SATC friends ride the highs and lows of life together.
Hannah & Marnie (Girls):
The friendship of all four Girls characters – Hannah (Lena Dunham), Marnie (Alison Williams), Jessa (Jemima Kirke) and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) – is always changing (as things do when you’re in your early twenties). But Hannah and Marnie, who experience their fair share of ups and downs, always come back to each other.
Karen & Jack (Will & Grace):
Now we know that this show is based around the friendship of Will (Eric McCormack) & Grace (Debra Messing), but our favourite besties are actually Jack (Sean Hayes) & Karen (Megan Mullally). Their highly dysfunctional but loving friendship really is #friendshipgoals.
Maggie & Liza (Younger):
When Liza’s (Sutton Foster) marriage falls apart, her best friend Maggie (Debi Mazar) takes her in and helps pick up the pieces. Maggie even puts up with the drama that ensues when Liza, who is 40-years-old, lies about her age (she tells her new employers she is 26-years-old) in order to land herself a job.
Lily and Simone (The Wrong Girl):
Besties and flatmates Lily (Jessica Marais) and Simone (Hayley Magnus) are both trying to navigate their way through life and even when things get a little tough, they manage to stick together.
Leonard, Raj, Sheldon and Howard (The Big Bang Theory):
Probably one of TV’s more bizarre friendship groups, these scientists stick together. Best of all, Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Raj (Kunal Nayyar) and Howard (Simon Helberg) put up with the MANY idiosyncrasies of Sheldon (Jim Parsons). That’s true friendship!
